Food Safe Finish For Wooden Mugs

by Conor

Hi

I am making wooden mugs out of American oak, i know not the best timber for the purpose but it's what i have to use. I am looking for a food safe finish for the interior of the mug to allow them to be used regularly, have you any suggestions or advice? I'd like to stay away from resins if possible. look forward to hearing from you.

Regards,

Conor

Arbutus Ron here:

I would use walnut oil... that's what I use on my wood. It's great. Just go to your health food store and buy a bottle.

ps. I will soon have available for sale my own product with mostly the walnut oil and some beeswax that I use on my best quality line... in about 3 months.
