how to darken my natural cutting board

Hi I have just purchased my thick butcher block style cutting board. the problem is I was hoping to find a dark wood but no luck. is there a way I can stain with organic materials or would you know of a food safe stain I can purchase. I was thinking of mixing some dark coffee and beet juice but not sure how that would turn out and I do not want to soak the board in the liquid either. help please.....

Thank you
Wendy

Coffee doesn't work

I tried the dark coffee and also ground in a bunch of wet coffee grounds, left it on for several days and kept rubbing it in every few hours. It looked great until it got a bit wet. The dark color lifted wherever it got wet and I it looked blotchy.looket
