How to finish wooden steak plates

I'm making a set of wooden steak plates and wondering what finish to use in order to keep them looking good and safe to use.

Walnut oil and mineral oil would be my choices.
As with any natural food safe wood finish, you should reapply often. Wood loves oil but it will dry out with washing. So re-applying as always good for the wood.

BUT if you ever use raw meat on wood like a butcher's block then no finish should be used. You want the raw wood for its anti-bacterial benefits. Just wash it clean with warm water.
