Safe wood to use with food

(Ohio)

I want to make a Bagel Slicer and make sure I am using a safe wood. I know how to finish this wood but after a long time use the inside may need to be treated again and that is not possible.

Can you help.

Thank you.

Jim

Hi Jim, Arbutus Ron here...

Can't see why you won't be able to add some walnut oil when you need to down the road. You can dribble it on so it reaches hard to get at places.

Any good hardwood would work well for your handle: oak, birch, maple or any fancy import and of course Arbutus wood.
