Spurtle finish

by Ron

i know there are many oils that are fine for salad bowls, cutting boards, etc., but what about for a wooden spoon or a spurtle (traditional Scottish porridge stir stick) that is used in hot, sometimes boiling liquids? Thanks in advance for you advice.

Arbutus Ron here...

I would use walnut oil... Do a coat and let dry overnight. Repeat a couple of times. Then do it every now and then for as long as the spurtle lasts.
