Trailing Arbutus (or Mayflower)

by Sandra Graves Peterson

When I was a young girl I used to pick what we called Mayflowers in the early spring, some of them poking up through the snow in Maine. They smelled heavenly and the blossoms were pink and white, with dark green leaves. Is this related to the type of arbutus flower in your blog?

Arbutus Ron here...

Hi Sandra,

Arbutus flowers are different... The Arbutus tree is much bigger and the flowers are high up above the ground.
