Waterproofing wood

Hey just read your article of food safe finishes,I have been trying to find a finish for some wooden mugs I'm going to make. Most finishes seem expensive and only water resistant at best. Would walnut oil be ok to use as the finish. I'm planning on using them regularly, and I didn't want the wood to rot or anything like that.

Hi Lee,

Any food safe wood finish will eventually wear off and need to be reapplied. Not a problem, just add the walnut oil every now and then.
