food safe wood finish question
Hi I just read your article on food safe finishes which was great! I was just wondering which oil, coconut or walnut, makes a better food safe wood finish?
I was also under the impression that all oils will go rancid eventually, but walnut seems to dry better and thus is less prone to becoming rancid, but I may be mistaken. I hope you can clarify this. Thanks.
Walnut oil is better than coconut which has a more pronounced flavor. If you use the utensil it will not go rancid. You will have to reapply from time to time.
